This used to be a component of a wooden or bamboo bed or throne. The glaze is called Wucai, which is earlier than fencai that appeared in Qianlong period. Wucai in late Kangxi period is characterized by its light red and green colors. Porcelain tiles were often used as decorations of wooden bed or chairs, starting in Kangxi period. There are two sides of the tiles that are painted.On one side, it is usually painted with figures and scenes from a Chinese opera, and on the other side, it is usually painted with flowers and plants. You can see that this tile is exactly designed in the traditional Kangxi pattern. Note the motifs on the borders are similar to Kangxi style tile. The hight is 9", width is 13" and depth is 2. There are holes by design to mount to the chair or bed. Kangxi period porcelain pieces are very rare and valuable. This is a museum quality piece. Be ware of potential delays in clearing custom.
