Antique Chinese China Robe Dragon Five Clawed Red Qing Silk Textile 19c

  

An Antique Original Chinese silk robe. Embroidered with five clawed dragons chasing the flaming pearl above.

Fierce waves this against a maroon background. Length of back 95 cm. Width lying flat from arm to arm 170 cm. Width lower hem lying flat 79 cm.

Condition: wear, loose threads, stains, as seen in the photos. Nils Rudebeck was Marshal of the Court to to Gustaf Adolf and Astrid Rudebeck were a close friend to his wife Louis Mountbatten so they came to accompany the couple on their around the world trip where China was an important stop to the Swedish Crown Prince since his great interest in the Chinese Culture.

He later on founded the famous "China Club" in Sweden in 1929. Astrid Rudebeck was the daughter of the great collector of Chinese antiques hovstallmästare Carl Gustaf von Platen.
