The pictured Chinese Robe dates to the 1800's and is made predominately of silk with numerous embroidered dragons, pheasants and lotus flowers on the front and back. The embroidered dragons, pheasants and lotus flowers are done with silk metallic thread and are of classic Chinese design. We acquired the robe in Macau, China in 1989 and had it framed in the plexiglass box by Galerie DuMonde in Hong Kong shortly thereafter. We believe that the robe would have been worn by the Mother of the Groom during a wedding. The robe was placed in its plexiglass display box in 1989/90 and has been stored in a dark place for the past 17 years. The robe measures 52" sleeve to sleeve by 28" hem to collar and the plexiglass box measures 59" wide by 34" high. On its stand the box measures 38 up from the surface it is sitting on. Over all the robe, plexiglass box and stand weigh about 30 pounds.
The robe is in excellent condition and has retained its original color and brightness. It is ready to be display in your home or office. The item "Embroidered Antique Chinese Silk Wedding Robe in Plexiglass Display Box" is in sale since Monday, November 27, 2017.
