Item Type: Han Dynasty Vessel Item Description: A green glazed pottery vessel. Nearly intact with some losses to rim. Has a wonderful ancient smell in interior when wet which cannot, as far as I know, be faked. The vase has some small chips and glaze imperfections consistent with its very old age and that would be commonly found on any legitimate example this old.

The vase is overall in substantially fine condition and retains almost all of its original green glaze which is commonly missing, flaked off, and of varying color. The vase is actually in much nicer estate-fresh condition than almost all examples like this you will find. Item Size: 5.5 inches high by 7 inches wide Country or Region : China. Certainty of Authenticity: It is notoriously difficult to authenticate Chinese pottery, however this seems to have fired at low temperature (ping test) and also has the right smell. Marcel Gibrat (Pictured working on a Greek Kylyx in the 1970s), my grandfather, was a Restorer for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan and later owned a Madison Avenue Restoration Studio and Art Gallery one block from the Guggenheim Museum. In fact he had a sixth grade education. He was also a talented painter. Im Max Lewin the curator of what remains of Marcels extensive art collection, comprising ancient, tribal, Asian and European art.

I have grown up around art and. I worked with Marcel summers and in college. Marcel was an unquestioned expert in antiquities and all items in the collection from the ancient world are guaranteed to be authentic.

Marcel also had a particular affinity for African tribal art, and while dating such items is problematic, he absolutely had impeccable taste. Some of his opinions on provenance of tribal items have been challenged. There are also Asian items of various quality, and many fine and genuine items from primitive cultures including relatively contemporary (a few hundred years old) and both neolithic and upper paleolithic items. Many of the items have archaeological markings. The item "HAN DYNASTY ANCIENT CHINESE GREEN GLAZED ARCHAIC POTTERY VESSEL 206BC-220AD" is in sale since Tuesday, February 4, 2020.
