Scarce saber for a Chinese army Lieutenant or Captain, in brass furniture showing nice dark uniform patina, grip of original wood of reddish color, may be rosewood, with twisted brass wire, one small chip to the wood near the lovely dragon shaped pommel, lower guard and habaki mount are serial numbered. Mounted with a powerful and very sturdy blade of Samurai sword form with spinal ridge and distinctive tip form, blade exhibiting heavy patina and oxidation probably due to poor storage. Solid overall and comes with a matched up steel scabbard showing heavy patina and having one nasty break near the middle.
