Here is a beautiful antique Chinese export famille rose armorial porcelain plate. Hand painted European scene in the center, possibally Fort St. George; and on the left is a European boat/harbor scene, on the right is a Chinese Canton junk boat/harbor scene.
Estimate early to mid 18C. Condition: good with wear to enamel and a few hairlines and minor rim nick as showed in photos.
This is a beautiful and rather rare piece. An excellent example of the classic Holburne dinner service, this fine plate is centered at the top with the family crest and at the bottom with its coat of arms: Holburne of Menstries, Baronets of Nova Scotia. The other decoration features a central lobed roundel with a view of Madras, while the two vignettes depict Whampoa and Plymouth Sound, in essence the trip from England to China. An beautiful example of an English armorial and the story of the China Trade. The item "Antique 18C Chinese export famille rose armorial porcelain plate 10" is in sale since Saturday, May 28, 2016.
