OF THE SHANG DYNASTY OF ANCIENT CHINA. WE SEE CLASSIC DECORATIONS FROM THIS PERIOD OF STYLISED MYTHICAL BEASTS. EACH SIDE HAS A BOLD HUGE STYLISED TOATIE BEAST MASK WITH COMPLEX MASS OF GEOMETRIC PATTERNS. A band of cicada lappets encircles body, and the top is decorated with confronting. The designs are all embellished with gilt inlays.
