Antique Chinese Ceramic Opium pipe

  

Yunnan, Southern China, this ceramic opium pipe is decorated with delicate flow blue hand painted designs that circle the entire piece: a man is shown fishing by a pond or river near a stand of bamboo and different Chinese symbols and writing adorn the rest of the piece. The pipe is reinforced with metal braces around the chamber and a The patina of the ceramic chamber is old and crackled.

At the top of the pipe is a metal structure with a cone where the opium would be placed. The chamber would have been partially filled with water to cool the smoke before it was inhaled. This is a very original opium pipe, and the painted images are rather mesmerizing. Measures: 5" tall x 2 1/2" wide.

There is a crack in the ceramic that is stable, otherwise the condition is excellent. It measures: 5" tall x 2 1/2" wide. The stem is 7 long.
