This antique embroidery badge was made for and worn by a fifth rank civil official, during the later part of the Qing dynasty. We know this as accurate history, because the tail of the pheasant on this badge has 5 feathers. Early Qing badges have 3 feathers. This was likley from a man of significant wealth, as his badge was made with many auspicious symbols and so much detail it practically fills the entire panel space. This piece was found recently in Honolulu after decades of deep storage.
Measures 11 height x 11-1/2 width. (27.94cm x 29.21cm). Has some condition issues as Ive shown in photos, but for its age- its very acceptable. This is a historically important original textile from a bygone era! We are here to sell to the most appreciative collector. Great opportunity to secure it now for a great price!
