Everyone in its life has been careful with it because it is in good condition for its age. It is held together by tiny wires. Here is a nice example of a long lost Art.
For over 2,000 years the wealthy and often Royal Chinese have used Kingfisher bird feathers as an inlay for decorating fine objects and adornment. The process is called tian-tsui (dotting with Kingfishers). Kingfisher feathers are painstakingly cut and glued onto metal (gold or silver), wood, or paper-mache, etc. The effect is like cloisonné, but nothing rivals the electric blue color of the feathers. Blue is traditionally the favorite color in China. This type of Art was not well known outside of China. The intense color is not from pigments but from the way light is bent and reflected back. Our headdress has losses (see Photos), but the many Kingfisher feathers left are a surprisingly bright blue. Please examine the photos closely. They are an important part of the description. We make every effort to describe items accurately, including their condition. We do our best to have satisfied customers by giving excellent service.
