This rare and uniquely designed teapot was made in China during the Republic period. It is in beautiful undamaged condition! It doesn't appear to have been used for tea, but it is hard to tell because the inside is unglazed. The pot stands about 7 1/2 inches tall.
It measures 8 inches from the tip of the spout to the end of the handle. The base is 6 inches on the longest side and 4 inches on the other. And it weighs 1.5 pounds. I have not attempted to clean it other than lightly dusting it.I've been told that the characters are from a poem about someone who has high integrity and is well respected. There is a mark on the bottom of the pot and one inside the lid (pictured in last photo). I welcome questions, and will be happy to add additional photos. This item has been accurately described.
Please note: Someone asked me to look at the teapot carefully with a magnifying glass. I discovered a small superficial hairline at the top of the handle where it joins the body of the teapot. Zoom in on the first photo to view it. As you can see in the second photo the other side is fine. The item "Antique Chinese Yixing Zisha Teapot" is in sale since Friday, March 1, 2019.
