The vase has a white porcelain globular shape with a bottle neck, that opens to form a flared rim. It is decorated overall with vibrant and very precisely painted Famille Rose butterflies in flight, with a floral band on the shoulder and a lappet border above the foot and below the rim.
The shoulder is decorated with a band of lotus scrolls bearing blooms and interspersed by iron red'shou' characters. There are also 2 applied golden borders. The vase is referred to as the 100 Butterflies Vase and dates from around the 1870s. The is a six character painted red Guangxu reign mark of the Qing Dynasty. It is in amazing condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines, or restorations.
