Carved QING Dynasty Antique Green Lavender Jadeite Jade Necklace Pendant CHINESE

  

This amazing necklace is a genuinely antique piece which would have originally formed the decoration on the hat of a high ranking government official in China in the Qing Dynasty Burmese Jadeite in China in the early Qing Dynasty was exceptionally rare with the earliest documented example being 1733. It was not until the 1850s that jadeite from Burma was available in China on a slightly larger scale. Owning a piece of jadeite in the Qing dynasty during the 19th century when this was made was only for aristocracy or the highest ranking government officials to the Emperor. The jade is beautiful lavender throughout on the cylinder with a touch of celadon at the very bottom of the pendant drop. This was extremely hard to photograph and did not come out well in the photograph depicting the bottom.

Throughout the cylinder the jadeite is exceptionally translucent with a beautiful high polish. The bead at the top of the lavender cylinder is a stunning fresh green like new leaves. What really took my breath away with this piece was the astonishing carving. The top and bottom of the cylinder have a thunder and lightning (Leiwen) pattern and the fine pierced decoration and flowing carving across the whole cylinder is simply put amazing. Both the green bead and the lavender cylinder are JADEITE JADE and are not treated by any modern treatments.

They are strung beautifully with Chinese knots and the necklace can be worn at different lengths by adjusting the cord at the back. The shortest it can be worn is around 21 inches or so and the longest around 27 inches or so. The woven cord is beautifully done.

The green jade bead measures approximately 3/8 in diameter (9.4mm). The lavender jade cylinder measures approximately 9/16" in diameter by 1 5/8" long (15mm x 42mm) This necklace is in lovely condition and is ready to gift or to wear. A full appraisal will accompany this special antique. It is a one of a kind necklace of exceptional beauty and rarity.
