CHINESE EXPORT SILVER BOWL c1885 FIGURES IN GARDEN This is an exceptionally fine c1885 Chinese export silver bamboo handled sugar bowl from the well listed Shanghai work shop of Ln Wo. The oval form features six distinct hand carved spire shape panels. The two center panels displays figures at games table opposite attendants with dignitary in wheeled carriage as figures in balcony look on.
The remaining four panels, each with distinct floral scenes, including one of the oldest in export silver grape and leaf. All of the decorative work background atop fine stippled surfaces, also classic feature in export silver. Period engraved cypher for the original owner. This Chinese export silver figures in courtyard. Sugar bowl just under seven inches.
Across handles and weighs about 7 standard ounces. Crisp well struck hallmarks for Luen Wo. Retains original hand carved detail.
