CHINESE EXPORT SILVER TEA SET c1850 COURT BEHEADING This is a fine and very rare, if not unique, mid 19th century Chinese export silver (partial) tea service. From the well listed Cumshing. Opposite side a combat display is observed by figures seated in three levels and a dignitary seated in box seat. Side panel with swarm of bats set amidst rolling clouds. The sugar bowl with elaborate tea ceremony one side and dragons battling for pearl the other.
Each decorated panel unique from the others. Period engraved R for the original owner. Teapot is 10 inches handle to spout and together set weighs a touch over 30 standard ounces. Hallmarked as shown Chinese characters & CS for Cumshing. Later fastener below finial, stubborn tarnish teapot cover, around hinge.
