CHINESE EXPORT SILVER TEAPOT c1890 TEA CEREMONY - SIGNED A uniquely designed and crafted late 19th century Chinese export silver teapot. In tapering ovoid fluted shape. Center with hand carved tea ceremony in garden, opposite side an elder with cane seated on bench with attendant before him.
Framed with hand engraved floral streams, and larger hand raised floral on satin twin fluted panel. Cover retains the original mushroom fluted spire tip finial. Leaf and vine hand carved handle, likely original. Atop very unusual, applied interwoven vine crown petal form feet.
The teapot is 10 1/2 inches and weighs about 20 standard ounces. Signed in long series of characters as shown.
Teapot with rich silver patina, and retains much original detail. Interior with one silver strap - restoration. Exterior 2 areas of shoulder dent restoration, now numerous tiny shallow bumps. Small glob solder to trees in one scene, cover hinging rough and loss to handle, as shown in closeup. As is, we expect it to bring about half of that.
