Chinese Qing deeply carved Heitan jade -scratches glass- pendant & tassel

Very beautiful, 19th century antique white jade (jadeite) pendant charm, late Qing dynasty, the work of a master carver with deep undercutting, and piercing, with a pair of original silk tassels. Translucent white, roughly rectangular with pierced carving of pine branches & plum blossom on one side and bamboo on the reverse, the Three Friends of Winter, (suihan sanhou -Chinese, shochikubai -Japanese) auspicious symbols of endurance and resilience, each of the three showing a defiance of the bitter cold of winter, the pine and bamboo remaining green and the plum daring to flower at winter's end. They also represent the scholarly ideals of purity of spirit (the plum), longevity (the pine) and strength with flexibility (the bamboo). This listing closes Sunday evening (US Eastern time). New to the market from a local'high end' estate, formerly the property of a lady who lived to be a hundred years old, so it seems like it did its job.

Guaranteed to be genuine jade (jadeite): it's cool to the touch, noticeably hefty, translucent yet cloudy, and readily scratches glass. But note the hair-thin'thread' bridging the central void, created by the carver as a demonstration of his virtuoso skill, an incredibly difficult feat in a material so hard it cannot be cut, it can only be worn down by abrasion. I can find nothing wrong with it, no damage or losses. Needs a little cleaning, perhaps. Please refer to photos for cosmetic condition.
