KANGXI c 1700 CHINESE EXPORT SLEEVE VASE BINTAN SHIPWRECK (BLUE CHRYSANTHEMUM)

  

A pretty 19 cm high trumpet mouth sleeve vase. Strong violet blue, decorated with two panels.

One of stylised daisy type flowers growing from rocks opposite a panel decorated with prunus branches and rocks. Two panels of reserve painted chrysanthemum around the neck. Zig - zag border to inside rim. Seabed action caused some scratching around the luting, a few frits as shipwreck items, together with glaze erosion. Recovered from a shipwreck and removed to Singapore for sale in 2014.

The Kangxi Bintan wreck that was discovered in 2012 South-East of the island of Bintan, Indonesia. February 2016, see Lot 672 left hand illustrated page 103. To Ancient & Oriental C.
